Its central aim is to discuss sound as a transdisciplinary field of technological inquiry, in which creative, experimental, and immersive approaches become distinctive methodological tools. We are particularly interested in debating the recurring disconnect between “music and technology,” evident both within music departments and within the traditionally established territorial boundaries of artistic and musical competencies, which tend to project technology as something distant and foreign—laden with technicalities, technocentrism, artificiality, and a futuristic tone.
