Resident Alien /// DARKFEST(August 1, 2018) -As part of Darkfest at The Tank, the audience will observe as performers are guided through a unique process of groupwork tnamed Group Listening*. The objective of Resident Alien is for the performers to transform a fixed electronic piece into a structured, live sound performance. One designated performer will play the role of the alien; they will be listening to a completely different electronic media piece on headphones while the other players are listening through speakers. Throughout their performance, the group will continuously shape their (re)constructed composition by alternating between attentive listening, improvising, and exchanging verbal feedback. They must reckon with the question of what it means to succeed as a group. In doing so, Resident Alien metaphorically facilitates a process of assimilation between the alien and the rest of the group via this performance practice. Precarious Sounds (Febuary 16, 2018) - Precarious Sounds // Sounding Sanctuary, hosted by NYU's FAS Music Department, will unfold over two days through a series of panels, performances, and multimedia installations in a conference that engages on sound as it supports migrant rights and fights precarity today and throughout history. Two evening concerts, six installations, and one late-night event feature over twenty composers and performers who explore precarity and sanctuary through chamber pieces, found objects, and sonic technologies. These pieces and installations evoke ecosystems in danger, the limits of the human body, America’s history of enslavement, the surveillance state, and memory as precarity and sanctuary. In addition, 18 presenters discuss aural legacies of colonialism, soundscapes of precarity, mediation of struggle, listening practices across the Mexico-U.S. border, sonic blackness, and silence as sanctuary. Featured events include a keynote by Prof. Josh Kun on Friday afternoon, and a multimedia exhibit in NYU Bobst Library’s Avery Fisher Center.
Toy Pianos after Dark (January 6, 2018)- Festival Founder and Director, Elizabeth A. Baker performs with her duo partner Erich Barganier at Cage Brewing, in a special late night concert as part of the 2018 Florida International Toy Piano Festival. The Baker-Barganier Duo will be joined by Montreal-based composer/percussionist Preston Beebe.
I Found a Pearl in the Wall this Morning (December 18, 2017) - Orlando, FL The Gallery at Avalon Island, 7 PM - I Found a Pearl in the Wall this Morning features a performer as a non-descript automaton following directions from a remote anonymous source via real-time internet document on a tablet. The audience interacts with the “Autonomous Controller” through a group text messaging application that conceals the phone numbers of audience members. A dystopian micro-society is created within the audience as the application boots members out of the group when someone is idle for too long, and due to the fact that the “Anonymous Controller” will make choices as to which of the audience suggestions are sent to the automaton.
The Autonomous Controller’s prompts to the Automaton range from musical instructions to movement instructions to interaction with the audience and performance space. The Automaton constantly carries a tablet with them to see the prompts from the Anonymous Controller.
In addition to controlling the Automaton, the Anonymous Controller manipulates the electronic synthesizers and effects processing on physical instruments in the performance space from a remote location.. The Automaton reacts immediately to the commands, inwardly realizing the possibilities of their world through interaction with physical instruments, while other commands demand that the Automaton reaches outside of their inner dialogue to explore the outer universe of audience and physical performance space.
Improtech at University of Pennsylvania(December 13, 2017) - (Lecture) The concept of a laptop orchestra has become entrenched in academia and is not necessarily accessible to those with limited technological abilities. This talk deals with how we can democratize laptop orchestras, strategies for how to organize any group of people with access to a laptop and Supercollider into a laptop orchestra, and strategies to connect participants remotely. This talk will also address the laptop orchestra as an effective pedagogical tool as a STEM project in Hackerspaces and Makerspaces.

Grad Composers' Collective Fall Concert (November 19, 2017) - A collection of new compositions by NYU composers will be premiered. The event will take place at the Provincetown Playhouse at 8 PM. Admission is free. I will premier Three Bagatelles for bassoon and electronics.
Immersion Room(November 15, 2017) - I will be presenting Rakka at 7:30 PM in the immersion room at NYU's Bobst Library with a few other composers for a night of electroacoustic music.
NYU Mix: NYU Percussion Ensemble (October 23, 2017) - My percussion piece, Bird-Scattered, will receive its world premier alongside 9 other newly composed works. The event takes place at the Frederick Loewe Theatre, 7:30 PM. Free event.
A Concert of New Music (October 15, 2017) - I will be performing a collaborative piece, Sunyata, for electric guitar, supercollider and microphones that have been transformed into bells with Toshi Tsuruoka at The Tank in downtown NYC 312 W 36th St. Tickets are $15 and the show begins at 3 PM
NYU Youth Music Festival(October 14, 2017) - Fox Wedding will be getting its live premier at this concert, featuring a slew of new works performed by children between 6 - 17 years of age. The concert will take place at Saturday at 7pm in Frederick Loewe Theater (35 West 4th street). This is a free event.
